Seventy six capsicum varieties and just one pear variety were registered in Russia

Those Russian orchard farms will be unable to significantly extend the released varieties assortment this season which insistently choose for the traditional "Central Russian" crops - apple and pear.

The State Commission on the testing and protection of the selection achievements of Russian Federation approved only one pear variety, named Gvidon, "Arguments and Facts" inform. This variety ripens in summer; the fruits are medium-sized, up to 120 g, with yellowish, juicy, sour-sweet flesh. Gvidon variety starts to fruit in the 4th year after planting; it is considered as frost-resistant and quite yielding. Talking about the apple trees, only the variety "Scarlet drooped" can draw attention, but it is not an "edible" but a decorative tree. Although, as much as 67 new varieties and hybrids of cucumbers and 76 varieties of capsicum were approved to use by the vegetable producers.
