Trade in greenhouse vegetables in Russia: outlook for the current season

Russia's imports of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes have grown by 8% and reached 1 mln tons ($130 mln in the value terms) in the season 2012/13, according to Fruit-Inform. At the same time, Russia's total production of greenhouse vegetables stood just at 600,000 tons in 2012, which was clearly insufficient to satisfy the internal demand.

The program of the 6th International Conference “Fruit & Vegetable Business of Russia – 2013” will pay a special attention to the market for greenhouse vegetables. In particular, the questions of further development of the sector, promising niche crops and state support of greenhouse centers in the Russian Federation will be included in the presentation of Mrs Natalya Rogova, General Director of Association of Greenhouses of Russia.

In addition to participation of the Russian greenhouse sector representatives and companies supplying vegetable seeds and greenhouse technologies, the organizers expect a high interest from the side of Ukrainian exporters. In particular, the conference program will include the presentation of Dneprovskiy Greenhouse Center, and the delegates will be joined by Ukrainian company DF Agro, modern greenhouse farm on the area of more than 40 ha.

Altogether the conference will be attended by more than 150 delegates from 15-17 countries of the world. To join the participants, please fill out an application form available on the web-site.
