The modern technologies of production, storage and marketing of fruit-and-berry crops and grape will be considered on the AMP seminar in AR Crimea

On the 30th of November the experts of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) plan to conduct the scientific-practical conference "The modern technologies of production, storage and marketing of fruit-and-berry crops and grape" in the Southern Division of the National Agricultural University, "Crimean Agricultural-Technological University" in Simferopol.

The topicality of this theme is proved by the statements of the famous fruit and vegetable market experts, made during the first international conference "Vegetables and Fruits of Ukraine: the Market of New Opportunities" early November in Kyiv. According to their words, now the most profitable agricultural business is fruit, berries and grape production; and it will be so at least during the next 5-10 years.

This topic became important also because of the spring 2004 that has been very severe towards Crimean grape producers: first it was a winter frost of -14 -16 on the 2nd-4th of April, when the plants had already started vegetation, their the most vulnerable period; then the lack of effective temperature sum, the excessive rainfalls and mists. Such combination of the unfavorable weather conditions in Crimea has not been observed for a long time, according to the opinion of Vladimir Yarmilka, the Agronomist of Crimean AMP office. Still, such complicated weather conditions forced to pay attention to the really steady grape varieties.

S. Ilukhin and N. Chorogita, the farmers - AMP clients, who have been researching dozens of new grape varieties in the environment of steppe Crimea for a long time, inform that in this complicated year such varieties and hybrids as FV -6-6 (Kesha-1), Lora, Victoria, Timur approved themselves. The best steady qualities were shown by the "Present for Zaporizhzhya" variety, to the specialists' opinion.

S. Ilukhin and N. Chorogita will share their experience of grape production in the conditions of Crimea during the work of the conference. The scientists, drip irrigation specialists, AMP experts and private producers will also make reports in the conference.

You can find out the detailed program of the conference in the Crimean AMP office, and also be registered there for participation in the conference.
