Results of the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader"

On Thursday, December 6th 2007, the fruit & vegetable conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", the largest event in Eastern Europe, was finished in Kyiv. More than 350 persons from 16 countries participated in three-days conference. In addition to Ukraine, the companies of Moldova, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Poland, Israel and Russia were widely represented on the event.

Around 70% of the participants were large and medium Ukrainian producers of fruits and vegetables. Approximately 65% of the companies-participants were large buyers of fruits and vegetables: large processing enterprises, wholesale companies, the leading foreign and national supermarket chains, importers and exporters, and public catering enterprises. The rest 15% participants were the companies which represented the service sphere of fruit & vegetable business: the leading suppliers of seeds and inputs, machinery, irrigation systems, plant protection assets, equipment for sorting and packing of fruits and vegetables.

The general sponsor of the conference was Israeli company Netafim, the world leader of drip irrigation technologies, greenhouse technologies and modern technologies of vegetable production, orchard and vineyard management. The national sponsor of the conference was "Olvita" company, the official trade sponsor was "Shuvar" market, the largest food market of Ukraine. The companies "Unifer" and "Phytomag" also sponsored the event.

During three days of the conference the participants were able to learn about all major novelties of the technologies of production, storage, post harvest handling and marketing of potato, vegetables, fruits and berries. The participants also got the situation about the perspectives of market development next season and in the strategic perspective. The conference received wide coverage in the central and specialized mass media. The exhibition "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007" was conducted simultaneously with the conference. The number of exponents, as well as the quantity of participants and visitors have also increased.

The positive feedback of the conference participants concerning the program, the participants' entry list and the level of the conference organization put a task for "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project team to maintain the same high level next year. So we ask all fruit & vegetable business players to mark early December 2008 as the time for the anniversary fifth international conference-exhibition "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2008".
