Poland raises juice exports to Russia

Polish food manufacturers started changing their focus after introduction of the ban on fruit and vegetable imports in Russia, according to Anyfoodanyfeed.com.

To keep their heads above water, many Polish manufacturers started producing juices and selling them to Russia, as juice imports are not subject to the ban.

In addition, Polish juice exports to Russia are backed by the situation in the Russian currency market, as more expensive juices of Dutch or German origin have been ousted from the Russian market.

According to Fruit-Inform, Poland has shipped 13,000 tons of fruit and vegetable juices to Russia in July-November 2014, twice as high as registered in the same period of the previous season. A sharp rise in exports enabled Poland to significantly improve its position among exporters: the country was the third (after China and the Netherlands) largest exporter of juices to Russia against ranking just fifth a year before.
