Ukraine: prices of greenhouse cucumbers down

Wholesale prices of greenhouse cucumbers have been going down in Ukraine (in the western regions especially), according to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring.

The largest decrease in prices is registered at Dubovo Wholesale Market, Khmelnytskyi. Current prices vary between UAH 25-35/kg (EUR 1.01-1.41/kg), a decrease of almost 25% compared with a week before. For comparison, in the end of the previous week, greenhouse cucumbers were offered at UAH 38-42/kg (EUR 1.53-1.69/kg) there.

Cucumbers are offered at UAH 23-26/kg (EUR 0.93-1.05/kg) at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv. A week before, minimum prices stood at UAH 27/kg (EUR 1.09/kg) there.

A decrease in prices at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, Kiev, was less significant: current prices stand at UAH 25-32/kg (EUR 1.01-1.29/kg) against varying between UAH 26-36/kg (EUR 1.05-1.45/kg) a week before.

Prices at Kopani Wholesale Market, Kherson Region, are stable: UAH 31-40/kg (EUR 1.25-1.61/kg).

The market analysts connect a decrease in cucumber prices with growth in Ukrainian greenhouse farms' outputs against a background of low demand for cucumbers in the internal market and low exports.
