N-P-K. Lack of fertilizer bites back on fertility indicators

APK-Inform experts quoting Serhiy Ryzhouk at the round table meeting devoted to sugar production intensification reported that insufficient fertilizer application lead to low and very low fluent phosphorus content in about 2.7 mill. ha of arable land.

This also leads to low fluent potassium content.

On top of things 20% of Ukrainian woodland is considered radiocontamineted along with contamination with heavy metals, infections, etc.

Soil acidity was also a burning issue. Acid soils in woodland make up 10.8 mill. ha or 18% of the total farmland in the given area.
