Off with the ban on Brazil meat
Interfax reported that Russian Veterinary Service lifted the ban on meat imports from Brazil imposed back in May 2001 due to foot-and-mouth disease problems in certain Brazilian states. In particular, the ban was lifted on all livestock products, meat and products, diary products, fish, feed from Rio-grande-de-Sul after Brazilian veterinary authorities declared foot-and-mouth disease eliminated in the aforementioned state. Previously, Russia lifted the ban on Brazilian imports only from those states where foot-and-mouth disease was not reported for the past four years.
