Russia: sweet cherry price collapse is observed in Moscow

The specialists of CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, inform about the collapse of the sales prices for sweet cherry on Moscow wholesale markets. The specialists of the wholesale companies talk about vary rapid changes which took place on the sweet cherry market. As of today, the sellers reduced the sales prices for sweet cherry down to 50-70 руб/кг; despite of high demand, they are not able to sell out the available volumes of this product. In the beginning of this week the wholesale prices for sweet cherry were up to 150-400 руб/кг depending on quality, shipment size and the origin of the product. Sweet cherry of Chili origin was sold for the maximum prices; the minimum prices were set for sweet cherry of the national origin and also for the product supplied form Ukraine.

At the present moment there are more than 50 trucks with sweet cherry on some city markets in Moscow; the list of the countries-suppliers has been significantly extended. There are products from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Israel, Ukraine, Krasnodarskiy Kray of Russian Federation on markets.

According to the forecasts of the specialists of wholesale companies, Ukrainian producers of sweet cherry will find it difficult to survive on Russian market because of the present-day competition. As of the present moment, some Russian companies have already suspended the purchase of sweet cherry in Ukraine and some other countries at least until the moment when the demand and supply are stabilized on market.
