Russia: farms output Jul 2002 equalled US$3.383bn

According to State Statistics Committee of Russian Federation, value of agricultural produce output of all categories of farming businesses (agricultural cooperatives, individual farming businesses, private persons) in July 2002 in current prices is estimated at RUR106.8 billion (US$3.383 billion); in January-July this year - RUR422.3 billion (US$13.377 billion).

In July this year all categories of farms produced animals and poultry in live weight 0.5 million tonnes, (in January-July 2002 - 3.3 million tonnes), milk - 4 million tonnes (in January-July - 21.3 million tonnes), eggs - 3.4 billion (in January-July - 21.6 billion).

As of August 1, 2002 head of cattle in all categories of farms numbered 29.1 million (by 0.4 percent less compared with the same date last year), of these cows - 12.4 million (3.3 percent less). Swine head was 18.1 million (6.4 percent more), sheep and goats - 17.5 million (4.4 percent more).

In the structure of livestock head, private persons were responsible for 41.4 percent of cattle, 45.7 percent of swine, 60.8 percent of sheep and goats (as of early August 2001 the corresponding percentage was 39.9, 46.7 and 61.4.)
