Agricultural Marketing Project in Odesa oblast conducted two seminars "Marketing, agricultural technologies, information and perspectives for development of fruit and vegetable market of the southern region of Ukraine"

On the 31st of January and 2nd of February 2005 Odesa office of Agricultural Marketing Project (AMP) conducted two seminars on topic "Marketing, agricultural technologies, information and perspectives for development of fruit and vegetable market of the southern region of Ukraine". Eighty one people, including three representatives of processing enterprises, two wholesalers and six representatives of input supply companies participated in the seminar.

During the event the following questions were taken into consideration: analysis of markets for the major types of commodity in 2004 and prognoses for the next year; the peculiarities of the AMP information system work and the importance of the communication facilities; results of the marketing season 2004 and plans for 2005; the international trends of the modern marketing for fruit and vegetable commodities, business-planning and modeling; examples and practical applying of the business-modeling; the results of fruit and vegetable marketing in 2004 and pilot projects for 2005; the development of fruit and vegetable market in Poland; agronomical AMP activities in 2004 in Ukraine; the practical results of AMP demoplot connected activities in Odesa oblast in season 2004; peculiarities of vegetable protection methods in conditions of season 2004; opportunities for obtaining loans for farmers in 2005 for this region. The specialists of Kyiv and Odesa AMP offices professionally presented the mentioned issues.

The special attention of the participants was paid to the reports of farmers - AMP clients, who told about the positive experience of cooperation with the Project specialists, their participation in the events and usage of market information generated by the Project.

The participants were grateful for the organizers of the seminar and made emphasis on the importance to enlighten such questions and share the gained experience.
